Learn how to explore your inner artist through creation of your own heartfelt greeting cards for a special person or occasion. No previous experience needed. Attendees will receive 3 card kits to complete at each session. Each kit will include pre-cut and scored card stock pieces; sentiment labels; plus ribbon or bling to finish the card as needed. Sample cards and detailed instructions will be available plus stamps and ink pads for use. Participants will need to bring their own scissors and glue (liquid and seal).

- Arboretum Bird Walk

The Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is visited by over 50 bird species every year and is a great hotspot for birding. This bird walk will tour many different sections of the gardens and will last for 90 minutes. Participants are encouraged to bring their own birding gear (binoculars, camera, field guides, etc.), as well as water. The Arboretum has limited pairs of binoculars available for checkout if needed. Terrain can be steep on the north end of the gardens, but many benches are available for rest throughout the walk. This walk will begin at the west entrance, near the museum parking lot. Off-site location: 1595 N. Sierra Street, Reno, NV 89503

Personal bias is an innate human trait; we all have it. Being aware of our personal bias can help us recognize their influence and impact on our behaviors and worldview. The Washoe County Library recently hosted “The Bias Inside Us” - an exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution’s Traveling Exhibition Service – that explored the social science, psychology, and consequences of implicit bias.

Our presenter, a retired lieutenant in law enforcement, will present ways in which you will become a better observer and learn to interpret your surroundings so that you don’t become a potential crime victim.

June 21: Aria 51: "A Crazy Little Thing Called Style" - Musical trio Aria 51 combines classical and folk instruments with singing to create unique arrangements of a variety of musical styles “from Rock to Bach.” You will encounter sounds of the cello, classical guitar, tenor and baritone ukuleles, violin, and the electric bass while learning to identify musical styles. Interactive activities are made to inspire, excite, and encourage creativity. Aria 51 takes us on a nostalgic musical journey, revisiting popular music of their youth styled in a whole new way.
