Registered Program Cancellation Courtesy

Your membership dues support a wide range of OLLI at the University of Nevada, Reno offerings, allowing you to attend as many programs and events as you choose throughout the year. Some offerings — such as tours, select workshops, and special events — may require registration and/or an additional fee. To support a positive experience for all members, we appreciate your consideration of space limitations and respect for fellow members across OLLI offerings.

Program Changes or Cancellations by OLLI

Most OLLI programs do not require advance registration—simply attend in person or join online to participate. Because our instructors are volunteers, there may be occasional circumstances when OLLI needs to cancel or reschedule a program due to low enrollment, presenter availability, or other unforeseen events. If a change is needed, the OLLI office will make every effort to notify members as quickly as possible.

  • Registered members will be notified via email (and by text if you have opted in to receive OLLI text alerts).
  • When practical, we may offer alternative sessions, waitlist priority, or program substitutions.
  • Updates may also be shared via an e-blast and/or the OLLI Weekly.

Program Registration Expectations: Cancellations and No-Shows

If a program does require registration, it is because we need to know how many participants to expect in order to provide adequate materials and/or space for the program to succeed.

To support a fair and orderly system:

  • Please notify the OLLI office at least 3–5 business days before the start of a program if you know you will not be able to attend a session for which you are registered.
  • This advance notice allows us to offer your space to someone on the waitlist.
  • While advance notice is not required to maintain good standing, repeated late cancellations or no-shows may affect future priority consideration for high-demand programs.
  • If you are registered and do not attend a session without providing advance notice, your absence may be recorded as a no-show.
  • Multiple no-shows without timely communication may affect future priority consideration for program scheduling, particularly for high-demand offerings, to ensure fair access for all members.
  • For fee-based programs, refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis based on timing and program-specific circumstances.
