History of the New Thought movement in America
The philosophic movement known as
New Thought
began in the early 1800’s in New England, influenced by people such as Ralph Waldo Emerson. It was born out of their restlessness of believing that there was something more to life than the rigid puritanical religious beliefs that had been unquestioned heretofore. A new freedom and philosophy emerged. Psychologist and philosopher William James labelled New Thought "the religion of healthy-mindedness.” The
New Thought Movement
is now a worldwide philosophy, faith, and way of being.
