Chautauqua: Samuel Goudsmit   

Dr. Samuel Goudsmit is one of the most prominent physicists of the 20th century, known for his contributions to quantum mechanics and atomic theory. During World War II, he was the scientific head of the ALSOS Mission to assess the progress of the Nazi atomic bomb project and capture its scientists. After the War, as editor of the Physics Review, he helped set national policy and research priorities. He ended his career teaching at UNR and serving on the Board of DRI. Dr. Goudsmit is Nevada's most renowned scientist, having received two of the nation's highest honors.
